Industrial Training Fund (ITF)
The Industrial training Fund (ITF) , it is Federal Government parastatal, under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and it was founded in 1971. The reason for the establishment of this agency is to promote and encourage the development and acquisition of industrial and commercial skills required in various industries across the nation. ITF also make available direct training, vocational and apprentice training. ITF Funds is gotten from Payroll tax which Tax payers are meant to pay.
Nigerian Export-Import Bank
It was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria with Act 38 of 1991 to replace Nigerian Export Credit Guarantee & Insurance Corporation. It provides export credit guarantees and export credit insurance for exports of Nigerian commodities and services within and outside West Africa. In 2014 it had a capacity of $39.5 billion in credit and securities for Nigeria’s non-oil exports.
National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic In Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP)
National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is a law enforcement agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria, founded in 2003 in order to combat human trafficking and other similar human rights violations. It was established under a federal bill on July 14, 2003, by the Trafficking in Persons(Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2003 through the advocacy of Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF).
Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)
NTA is a Nigerian government-owned and partly commercial broadcaster. It is Originally known as Nigerian Television (NTV),NTA was founded in 1977 with a monopoly on national television broadcasting, after a takeover of regional television stations by military governmental authorities in 1976. After declining interest from the public in government-influenced programming, it lost its monopoly over television broadcasting in Nigeria in the 1990s. The NTA runs the largest television network in Nigeria with stations in several parts of the country. It is widely viewed by many. News programming was central to NTA’s and the government’s efforts to forge national unity.
Television Authority was born as the sole entity responsible for Television broadcasting in Nigeria, beginning with ten (10) stations. It later added twenty (20) more stations, bringing it to thirty (30) stations by 1999; and today, the organization boasts of one hundred and one (101) stations
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)
This Radio station known as Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria was founded in 1933 by the British colonial government. Named the Radio Diffusion Service (RDS), it allowed the public to hear the British Broadcasting Corporation’s foreign radio service broadcasts in certain public locations over loudspeakers. In April 1950, the ”’Radio Station”’ became the Nigerian Broadcasting Service and introduced radio stations in Lagos, Kaduna, Enugu, Ibadan, and Kano. This service was reorganized into the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) on April 1, 1957, by act of parliament. Its mission was to “provide public service”.
Voice of Nigeria (VON)
Voice of Nigeria start it journey in 1961,as the External Service of the then Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (now Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria). Then Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa commissioned the service.
The nation’s growing commitment informed the need to have an external channel through which authoritative information about the African situation could be disseminated to the entire world.
In 1990, VON became autonomous, and in 1996, three state-of-the-art 250 kW Thomcast AG transmitters were commissioned. This boosted VON’s transmission to the entire world. The transmitting station is located on 40 hectares at Ipokodo, Ikorodu in Lagos State.
National Orientation Agency (NOA)
This governmental agency was founded in 1993; The National Orientation Agency is under the umbrella of ministry of information, it is charged with the responsibility of communicating government policies, staying on each other’s sides during public opinion, promoting patriotism, national and development of Nigerian society and has handled a lot of issues including non-governmental organizations and health etc.
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
National Broadcasting Commission it is the Federal Republic of Nigeria broadcasting regulator.
National Broadcast was established on 24th August 1992 by the Decree 38 of 1992 and later amended as an Act of the National Assembly by the Act55 of 1999 and now known as National Broadcasting Commission Laws of the Federation 2004, among other responsibilities, they regulate and control the broadcasting industry in Nigeria and also headed by 6 directories.
The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the federal government and gathers data, analyze trends, dynamics and momentary state of the industry.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) it is Federal Government of Nigeria news reporting agency owned and run by the Federal government, just like Nigerian Television Authority. NAN was created to disseminate news easily across the country and to the international community and also as a means to counter negative stories about Nigeria.
By 10th May 1976, a decree establishing the agency was promulgated into law but its operations began two years after. In March 1978, a board of directors was inaugurated while on 2 October 1978 pilot news operations began.
Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF)
Petroleum Technology Development Fund was created by Act 25 of 1973, which repealed the Gulf Oil Company Training Fund Act. During the creation of PTDF, there existed Gulf Oil Company Training Fund, Petroleum Technology Development Fund was set up for the training of Nigerian graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the field of engineering, Geology, Science and Management in the oil sector.
For this reason policy of local manpower development in the oil and gas sector was institutionalized. Due to its creation, government has given a compulsory mandate that international oil companies to employ trained Nigerians.
New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD)
NEPAD is a program of the African Union (AU) that has replaced the OAU in 2002, though it has its own secretariat based in South Africa to coordinate and implement its programmes.
New Partnership for Africa’s Development is an economic development program of the African Union. NEPAD was adopted at the 37th session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in July 2001 in Lusaka, Zambia.
The objectives of New Partnership for Africa’s Development are: poverty eradication, promote sustainable growth and development, integrate Africa in the world economy, and expedite or facilitate the empowerment of women
NEPAD seeks to attract increased investment, capital flows and funding, providing an African-owned framework for development as the foundation for partnership at regional and international levels.
Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF)
NSITF, was founded in 1961 by the act of the parliament, they provide easy way of removing poverty in Nigeria and also targeting the employees in the private sectors, protecting them from financial difficulties.
NSITF hand over its pension business to the Trust Fund Pension Plc.
Member enjoys pension and grants far beyond their contributions after retirement at the age of 55 or 60. In the event of death, they would pay the benefits to survivors.
Federal Government of Nigeria established this trust fund to cater for employees’ work-related accidents. The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund monitors and mandates all employers to comply with this initiative.
Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB)
Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), was founded by the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act which came into existence on April 22, 2010.
Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)
It was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1973 to replace the Nigerian Building Society which was founded in 1956. Between 1978 and 1985, it was the only mortgage institution in Nigeria. According to the constitution of Nigeria, the Federal Mortgage Bank was established to meet the housing needs of all citizens of the country.
Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria was propositioned to become a regulator of the primary mortgage originators as the apex mortgage lending institution in the country and its primary mortgage lending activities was taken over by the Federal Mortgage Finance Company of Nigeria.
Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND)
TETFUND scheme was formed as a product of the Education Tax Act of 1993. Prior to the establishment of the scheme in 2011, government-owned tertiary institutions were poorly funded. The scheme was designed to improve on the managements of funds disbursed to these institutions.
Tertiary Education Trust Fund was abbreviated to TETFUND, is a scheme established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011 to disburse, manage, and monitor education tax to government-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)
NITDA was set up by the federal government in April 2001 to implement the new Nigerian Information Technology Policy and co-ordinate general IT development in the country.
National Information Technology Development Agency is a public service institution under the Nigerian Ministry of Communication, which serves as the main instrument of government policy implementation and development in the Nigerian.
NITDA is also mandated with the implementation of policies guideline for driving ICT in Nigeria. It plays advisory role in copyright law by verification and revision of applicable laws in tandem with the application of software and technology acquisition.
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is a public service institution established by NITDA Act 2007 as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
NITDA was commissioned by the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo through the perfection of a bill designed to provide for the establishment of National Information Technology Development in 2007
Petroleum Equalization Fund
The Petroleum Equalization fund Management Board is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, founded by Decree No.9 of 1975 as amended by Decree No. 32 of 1989 it main purpose is to give Uniform Prices on Petroleum products in the country.
Petroleum Equalization Fund is for reimbursement of petroleum companies on any losses in Nigeria.
The Core Values for The Petroleum Equalization Fund (Management) Board are to promote high ethical standards of a responsibility to public service and organizations.
Nigeria Railways Corporation (NRC)
Nigeria Railway Corporation has been in existence years back in the 1898, the British colonial government constructed the first railroad on October 3rd 1912. Lagos Government Railway and the Baro-Kano Railway were merged together.
Starting nationwide railway service under the name Government Department of Railways. With the passing of the Nigerian Railway Corporation Act of 1955, the company gained its current name as well as the exclusive legal right to construct and operate railway service in Nigeria. The rail network reached its maximum extent shortly after Nigerian got her independence.
Bureau of Public Procurements (BPP)
Bureau of Public Procurements, is an agent of the government charged with the responsibility to regulate, monitors and oversees public procurement.
They also ensure that its conduct, the state follows its rules and regulations.
Bureau of Public Procurements was set up by the Rivers State Public Procurement Law act 4 of 2004.
The agency is led by a board of directors that comprises a Chairperson, the Attorney General of Rivers State, seven other members, and the Director-General of the bureau.
Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE)
Bureau of Public Enterprises serves as the secretariat of the National Council on Privatization (NCP) it has overall power and responsibility of implementing the council’s policies on privatization and commercialization.
It approved of public enterprises, Account management for all commercialized enterprises for financial discipline.

Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA)
Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) is an agency of the government of Nigeria founded in 2003, charge with the responsibilities of monitor and regulating the supply and distribution, and also determines the prices of petroleum products in Nigeria. Its headquarters is situated in Abuja, Nigeria.
Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON)
Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) is a body in charge of standardization in Nigeria. Standardization is the process of developing and implementing of technical standards based on the agreement of different bodies that include governments, standard organizations, firms, interest groups.
Standard Organization of Nigeria was established in 1971 by the Enabling Act No. 56 of 1971. The Acts has had several amendments since then. The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) currently operates under the SON Act Number 14, 2015. The last amendment was made to give more power to the organization to penalize offenders and also add more functions to the work of the organization. The SON is headed by the Standards Council of Nigeria.
National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
NAFDAC is a governmental body under the Federal Ministry of Health of Nigeria. Its head office is in Abuja and the operation office is in Lagos. NAFDAC is in charge of supporting the wellbeing of the societies through monitoring, regulating production, distribution, and import/export of various products like food, medicines, cosmetics, pesticides, bottled water etc.
NAFDAC was created in 1993. Decree №15 of 1993 officially established NAFDAC. This declaration was later edited by Decree №19 of 1999
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control inspects the production of medicines, cosmetics, and other similar products to ensure quality. It grants permission for export/import of chemical substances and controls storage environments of these substances to make sure that dangerous chemicals are managed safely
NAFDAC gives permission for import / export of controlled substances through regulation and control, NAFDAC also ensure the best quality of chemicals for agricultural use.
NAFDAC also provides up-to-date data on risk/benefit profile of medical substances. The organization also takes part in developing public health programs.
Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC)
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) is Federal Government Agency in Nigeria founded by the NIPC Act N0. 16 of 1995. Nigeria Investment Promotion Council is charged topromote, co-ordinate and monitor all investments in Nigeria. The basic functions and powers of the NIPC are prescribed by Act 16 of 1995. The Commission has perpetual succession and a common seal, which is specially established, among other things, to: Co-ordinate, monitor, encourage and provide necessary assistance and guidance for the establishment and operation of enterprises in Nigeria; they also initiate and support measures which shall enhance the investment climate in Nigeria for both Nigerian and non-Nigerian investors.
Bank of Industry (BoI)
Bank of Industry Limited began operations in 1959 as the Investment Corporation of Nigeria (ICON) Limited. In 1964, ICON Limited was reconstituted to become the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (NIDB) Limited under the guidance of the World Bank.
Bank of Industry is the oldest and largest Development Finance Institution (DFI) currently operating in Nigeria. It is owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) Nigeria.
National Centre for Women Development (NCWD)
The NWCD was launched on 17 October 1997, and modeled on the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW). It works together with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Between 1997 and 2003 the NCWD published a magazine, Images of the Nigerian Woman.
In 2013 President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Onyeka Onwenu as Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NCWD, Onwenu served for two and a half years, claiming to have raised morale under difficult conditions in which she faced some ethnic opposition. By February 2016 President Muhammadu Buhari removed Onwenu, appointing Abdulmalik Dauda to succeed her as Acting Director General. Onwenu criticised Dauda for reversing some staffing changes, Dauda died in April 2016, In 2017 Mary Ekpere-Eta was appointed Director General of NCWD.
