REGIONS OF TANZANIA
Tanzania, the African country, is divided into thirty-one regions as the highest administrative structure. Five of the thirty-one regions of the country are located in Zengibar and Pemba, which constitute the united republic, while 26 are in the Republic of Tanganyika, the other country of the united republic on the main land.
Thirty-One Regions of Tanzania
Tanzania is divided into thirty-one regions as the highest administrative division.
In 1975, Tanzania had 25 regions. In the 1970s, the name of the Ziwa Magharibi District was renamed Kagera District. In 2002, Manyara Region was established as part of the Arusha Region. In 2012, four new regions were created: Geita, Katavi, Njombe and Simiyu. Finally, in 2016, Songwe District was established from the western part of Mbeya District and the number of regions has been thirty-one.
Arusha Region
Arusha Region is one of the 31 administrative regions of Tanzania. Its capital and largest city is Arusha. The region is located in the northeastern part of the country. The area is 37,576 square kilometers and the population is 1,694,310 according to the 2012 official census. The Arusha Region is divided into a city and six districts.
Dar es Salaam Region
